Dr. Mike and B.J. Daniels
Dr. Mike Daniels is the second born son of four boys birthed to Redger and Allie Mae Daniels. He is married to the former Barbara Jean Tidwell, of Winona, and is the father of five children. His education begins with the Tyler Independent School District, graduating from John Tyler High School, and attending Tyler Junior College. Dr. Daniels earned a Bachelor of Divinity and Masters of Divinity from Homestead College of Bible. In 1974, Hebron College of Bible granted him an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. He continued his education earning a Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Baptist Christian University and later a Doctor of Theology from Louisiana Baptist University. The last 33 years he has taught Psychology and Christian counseling on the collegiate level, served as Dean of Psychology, and today serves on the Board of Trustees' of the Louisiana Baptist University. Dr. Daniels holds professional certifications with the National Association of Family and Marriage Counselors and the National Association of Professional Counselors. In 2005, under the direction of Dr. Mike Daniels, the founding of Texas Baptist Theological Seminary has begun with an outreach to Asian countries led by Dr. Elmer Quilas of the Philippines. The National Association of Family and Marriage Counselors named him their Executive Director because of his "love for people who have lost their way and his God given ability to each them." The City of Tyler, Texas honored him by naming a day, "Dr. Mike L.Daniels Day" after him.
Dr. Daniels has served the Tyler area for over forty years with the last thirty-three years as the senior pastor of Landmark Baptist Church. Under his direction, Landmark has grown from a handful of people to over 1,200 members with 25 ministries that reach our city, county, state, and around the world. Landmark has been a pioneer in the building of mission work in the Philippines, Mexico, Guyana, and the Bahamas. The works include purchasing of property, training native pastors, founding seminaries to train preachers, pastors and Christian workers for evangelism and the building of an orphanage in Mexico.
Dr. Daniels is known for his love of people and desire to share the gospel with them. His great love for the Savior has been the catalyst that has brought thousands to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Literally, Dr. Daniels has been able to see and be a part of what so many desire to be a part of with the Lord.
With the support of the membership of the Landmark Baptist Church, he has given unselfishly of his time and wisdom in counseling, bringing much needed help to those struggling with the problems of life and giving them hope. Truly he has lifted and carried the burdens of his fellow man and brought help and healing to many troubled souls.
Dr. Daniels brings wisdom and excitement to the pulpit and challenges the hearers to desire a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. His ability to make the word of God come alive right before you captivates the congregation.
